Cameroon Baptist Convention, CBC Health Services has denied allegations of having slashed salary of workers by 50% .

CBCHS has indicated that measures have been taken to mitigate effects of coronavirus pandemic and anglophone crisis but the reduction of salary is not one of the measures.

Speaking to Mimi Mefo Info on phone Wednesday December 2nd 2020, Amos Wirngo; an administrative staff at Banso Baptist Hospital,BBH Kumbo says ” leaders of CBCHS met in Yaounde recently and resolved that staff should voluntarily donate from 10,000frs to over 0ne million francs cfa to help boast the financial strength of CBC worst hits by the crisis and COVID 19.

“Beside that, seniority bonuses and other advantages have been suspended for a period of one year” said the source.

The official of BBH Kumbo has stated that the financial donations are mainly voluntary and not compulsory for staff.

Amos Wirngo adds that CBCHS has suspended all building projects .

“The priority now is the purchase of drugs and the payment of salary of workers. Let me state categorically that salaries have not been reduced by CBCHS as earlier stated by some media organs.”

The official indicates that the measures are temporal just to ensure CBCHS regain it’s financial strength.

Despite this , some workers of the health services have condemn the measures saying it affects mostly low income earners of the company.

Before the outbreak of Coronavirus pandemic in Cameroon, CBCHS has been experiencing issues due to constant insecurity that scare patients from visiting the hospital for medical assistance.
