The dust raised by the recent abductions of staff of the Banso Baptist Hospital (BBH) and a CBC clergy is yet to settle.
The Church says they are trapped between two parties on accusations they are innocent of, MMI has gathered.
Rev Dr Nditembe Charlemagne, Executive president of the Caneroon Baptist Convention, CBC in an epistle Tuesday September 27, 2022 called on faithful of the church to partake in a three-day prayer and fasting session. The initiative will run from the 28th to the 30th of September, 2022.
The call is engineered by recent happenings at the Banso Baptist Hospital, Kumbo,an hospital run by the CBC .
MMI is aware that atleast seven health workers and a Pastor l were picked by parties smoking guns in the near five-year armed conflict in the two English speaking regions of Cameroon.
“… In figurative terms ,we are trapped between two forces and incorrectly accused separately by both sides”, said the CBC President in a public letter.
“On the one hand, we are accused by the one for collaborating with the other, and on the other hand we are accused by the other for betrayal to one” the letter which MMI obtained a copy, went further.
It should be recalled that on September 22, 2022, state forces invaded BBH, Kumbo whisking away three medical staff including the head of administration, on accusations of treating wounded separatist fighters.
Several media reports say two days later, armed separatist fighters who reportedly identified themselves as Bui Warriors, descended on the health facility taking away five staff including the CBC Field Pastor of Kumbo accusing them of working with state forces.
“For truth and conscience sake, both sides have it utterly and totally mistaken. Some of our brethren (staff) and a field pastor held on by both sides are purely innocent” the CBC shepherd equiped.
Reminding that the church remains neutral in the face of politics, he emphasized the church’s attachment to truth and justice.
“You all know so well that as a Christian organisation, CBC is apolitical. We speak the truth and stand for the truth and will remain on the side of truth no matter what, “Rev Dr Nditembe made it clear, adding that “as a peace loving and peace preaching church, we maintain that truth and justice be spoken and served everywhere, everytime, in order to create a conducive environment for peace.”
“We should never compromise or sacrifice truth on the altar of freedom or peace as it may be temporal” he warned.
Beyond the three days prayers and fasting, Rev Dr Nditembe Charlemagne called on christians to, “pray without ceasing for the respect of the sanctity of life in our nation while upholding the christian and biblical testimony that righteousness exalts a nation”.
Whereabouts of those abducted
At the time of this report, a video emerged of those abducted by separatist fighters in an undisclosed location. A voice overheard in the video posing for a separatist fighter announced their release claiming that they have been found innocent of accusations levied against them.
They abductees showed no signs of torture. They include; Rev.Shey John (Field Pastor), Mbiydzenyuy Margaret (Nurse), Njolai Lawrence (surgical technician), Fai Peter (security guard) and Godlove Selamo (biker).
The whereabouts of three others earlier picked by government soldiers have not been made known.
Authorities have as well made no public statement.
