By Tata Mbunwe

The Cameroon Embassy in Turkey will be flying home the body of amputee football player, Teneng Elvis Nkam, who died in the earthquake in Turkey.

The Embassy has announced that the late player’s corpse will be removed from Alibeykoy Mortuary in Instanbul at 10am February 14, and flown by Turkish Airlines to the Nsimalen Airport where it will be expected to arrive at 11:30pm same day.

In a release on Monday, Ambassador Victor Tchatchouwo called on Cameroonians living in Turkey to mobilise for a final goodbye to the late footballer.

Elvis Nkam and other teammates of Malatya Amputee Football Club died on Monday, February 6, after the deadly earthquake that struck Turkey and Syria that day crashed their hotel building.

The devastating disaster had claimed at least 35,000 lives as of February 13, and search operations are still ongoing with more bodies being recovered from the relics of shattered buildings.
