Following the announcement of two new Coronavirus related deaths by the ministry of public health in Cameroon on Sunday April 12th 2020, Some Cameroonians think government has been hiding the number of deaths recorded across the country.

According to them, five persons died of the disease in the country’s economic capital Douala on April 12th 2020 alone, more than twice the number of deaths announced by the central government.

Writing on social media, a Cameroonian identified as Theary Abena Ondoua said five COVID 19 patients died in Douala on Easter Sunday, notably the former Mayor of Dschang, an official of tradex oil and gas company, the Littoral regional director of ENEO, former Honourable Samuel Wembe of the Mifi, and a lady at the PK14 neighborhood of the city.

His social media publication, carried photos and images of the persons named. To him, the actual total number of deaths might just be twice, the number given by the government.

The government of cameroon says 12 persons have been killed by the disease across the country, with 96 recovered cases.

Recall that the death of Achilles Moukouri in Douala some weeks ago was initially denied to be linked to COVID 17 by government which later accepted that he died of COVID 19, after public pressure.
