Cameroonian Afro-pop sensation Daphne Njie Efundem, widely known as Daphne, has officially announced the release of her new single featuring Nigerian artist Teni. This marks Daphne’s long-awaited return to the music scene after a break following her marriage in 2020 and the birth of her child in 2023.
The upcoming track, titled “Happy,” will now release on October 4, 2024, instead of its original date of September 27, 2024. Daphne apologised for the delay and explained, “Unfortunately, I had to postpone the release due to circumstances beyond my control, but I promise it will be worth the wait.” The song will be available on all major streaming platforms and represents her first release as an independent artist after over a decade with a record label.

The single also features Nigerian superstar Teniola Apata, known as Teni, who skyrocketed to fame with her 2017 hit “Fargin.” Teni, a talented singer, songwriter, and entertainer, has become one of Nigeria’s top artists, blending Afrobeats, pop, and highlife with her playful, energetic style. She has won multiple awards, including the prestigious Headies Award for Best Recording of the Year.
Daphne first gained widespread attention with her 2016 smash hit “Calée,” which captivated audiences across Africa. Known for her heartfelt vocals and meaningful lyrics, Daphne blends Afrobeat, R&B, and pop, singing in both English and French to reflect Cameroon’s rich bilingual heritage. Her songs often tackle themes of love, empowerment, and personal growth, making her a beloved figure in the Cameroonian music scene. Throughout her career, she has earned numerous awards, including AFRIMA’s Best Female Artist in Central Africa, and has used her platform to champion causes such as women’s rights and mental health awareness.
