This morning, some employees of a Cameroon-based telecommunications company aired their grievances with their employer. The workers in Douala said they had not been paid arrears and allowances.
Protests by workers of the telecoms company, Nexttel have intensified, spreading across other regions.
Workers for the company in the North West Region say like their counterparts elsewhere, their premiums are not being paid. A similar worry is raised by those in Buea- South West region.
Claiming that the strike action is happening in six out of Cameron’s ten regions, a worker who refused to be identified says “since we started working about seven years today, for most of us the salaries keep dropping.”
“They keep dismissing people for no good reason and they don’t pay them anything” he adds.
The company is yet to officially react to the workers protests.
