The traditional ruler of Oku, a Fondom in the restive Northwest West Region of Cameroon has paid a visit to his subjects in the capital city, Yaounde.
HRH Ngum IV was received by the Oku community in Yaounde on February 7, 2023.
Present at the reception were top elites and some state dignitaries-including Cameroon’s former Prime Minister, Philemon Yang who is an indigene of Oku, and Elung Paul Che, Assistant Secretary General of the Presidency of the Republic.

An Oku indigene in Yaounde who spoke to MMI said, “The Fon’s message was that of assurance and hope given the fact that most of them are internally displaced.”
“I used the opportunity to tell the Oku people that the palace of Oku is apolitical and every person no matter their political affiliation are my sons and daughters,” HRH Ngum IV told MMI.
Oku is one of the hardest hit areas in the face of the armed conflict in the Anglophone regions with many internally displaced persons spread across the country.
The visit was animated by cultural dances from Oku amongst others.
