Government donates gifts worth over 100 million to burnt Mamfe hospital

The population of Manyu division of the South West Region has received gifts worth over a hundred million following the recent arson at the Mamfe district hospital.

The gifts were presented by the Ministry of Public Health and the South West Regional Assembly.

The delegation led by Arrey Mengot, Minister in charge of Special Duties at the Presidency, made their first stop at the district hospital in order to witness for themselves the ravaged buildings.

“It’s unfortunate that a structure that has been here for years, to serve the Manyu population and its environs can be brought down by few miscreants who do not even understand the importance of a hospital.” Arrey Mengot noted.

From the hospital, the delegation moved to the Mamfe grandstand where they sensitized the population on the importance of collaborating with the administrative authorities in a bid to prevent the reoccurrence of such acts.

According to Teku Tanyi, an elite of Manyu division, “We are here today to first of all console those who are affected and then assist the sick people, but to also come together to say that all this wickedness has to stop!”

The equipment which consisted of beds, mattresses, soap, toiletries, blankets, among others, will be used at the hospital after its reconstruction.

The population of Manyu through their Mayor, Tabenchong Robertson expressed their gratitude and as well promised to do their best for the proper management of the gifts.

Meanwhile, the mayor has been commissioned to provide space for the construction of a makeshift hospital while awaiting the reconstruction of the district hospital.
