The government of Cameroon has condemned brutality meted on two elements of the national gendarmerie in Garoua by militants of the Cameroon Renaissance Movement political party.

In a release signed Saturday March 14th 2020 by the minister of communication, Rene Emmanuel Sadi recounts how militants of the CRM party of professor Maurice Kamto wrongly accused gendarmerie officers duly assigned to monitor the activities of the party as being assassination agents while in the town of Garoua last Friday 13th March 2020.

To the spokesman of the government, “despite haven identified the two security elements with their professional cards, militants of the CRM party further harassed them seizing the gun they had and arrested them. In strict respect of security orders given to the gendarmes, they did not use their gun to defend themselves”. To the minister of communication ,the gendarmes on duty demonstrated a high level of professionalism.

Government has therefore condemn the action of the CRM party that brutalised gendarmes on accusation of attempting to assassinate Maurice Kamto. They call on the national and international community to disregard what they describe as “unfounded allegations aimed at discrediting the military “.

Meantime, the Cameroon Renaissance Movement political party insist that two persons arrested should stand trial in a competent law court on why they attempted to kill the leader of the CRM party.
