The Government Technical School of Agriculture in Nkambe is surviving under what school officials say “deplorable learning and teaching environment for students and teachers”.

The school has insufficient infrastructure with the few existing buildings in dilapidated state. To students, the entire campus needs to be rehabilitated to present a better image and an encouraging study environment. The school has poor toilets, insufficient offices for teachers and other workers .

Toilets are not decent for teaching staff and students

With the study of agriculture that demands field work and practicals in farms, Billa Vitalis Fokwang, Director of Technical School of Agriculture Nkambe laments the absence of necessary facilities to ease the work of teachers, thereby, making it difficult for them to inspect the work of students.

Despite the high demand of agro-technicians in multinational agric industries in Cameroon, some graduates of Technical School of Agriculture in Nkambe regret that students often find themselves wanting while in the field of practice.

With a considerable level of security in Nkambe, Donga Mantung division in the North West region of Cameroon witnessed last academic year, some potential students have been expressing fears of what will become of studies for the 2019/2020 academic year that starts in September given threats issued by pro independence fighters.

2019 graduates of the 6th batch of Agro Pastoral entrepreneurs and the 1st batch of Agricultural Technician have promised to use knowledge acquired to improve the agricultural sector in their respective communities and villages.
