A suspected bandit has been burnt to death in Bamenda, North West Region.
Reports say he was one of three suspected robbers apprehended by the population at a place called Fonab Junction at Mile 3.
“They were three of them and the boy who was burnt was suspected the leader of the trio because he was in possession of a gun,” a local revealed.
A group of young men, he says, were returning from a snack when they met the suspects.
“… They followed the thieves and the two escaped and this one was caught with the gun. Some few millitry men came to the scene and when the population agitated and in tension, the military took the gun and left and he was burnt to ashes,” he explains.
It should be recalled that weeks back a PhD student was stabbed to death in the same neighborhood by suspected bandits.
Mob justice has been on the rise especially with the increase in insecurity in Cameroon’s major towns during this festive period.
