Cameroon’s national day was marked by gunshots across the English Speaking regions.
From Mutengene to Bamenda and Kumbo, residents reported hearing gunshots. In Kumbo, sources say the military had an exchange of gunfire with separatist fighters.
We don’t know who is shooting and for what reason but the sound of the guns just woke everyone up” a source in Mutengene explained last night, adding that the shots lasted about 5 minutes.
A gun battle between soldiers and separatist fighters was also reported in parts of Bamenda including near the Bamenda II Council.
Chaos remains the order of the day in many parts of the regions. This has brought about questions over President Biya’s reconstruction plan soon to commence.
More than 3,000 have been killed in over three-year long war.
