Health ministry reveals 80% Pregnant Women In Cameroon Are COVID-19 Positive
Cameron’s Public Health Ministry has said up to 80% of pregnant women in the country have tested COVID-19 positive as the virus cases continue to rise.
The information on Cameroon’s epidemiological situation was revealed Wednesday by Dr Fanny Mahamat, Director of the Promotion of Health at the Ministry of Public Health.
Health Minister, Dr Manaouda Malachi, has tweeted recent COVID-19 statistics with active cases estimated at 742 out of over 19,600 recorded cases recorded since March this year.
According to World Health Organisation, WHO, pregnant women with COVID-19 are less likely to experience a fever or muscle pain like any other person, but they are more likely to need intensive care than non-pregnant women with COVID-19.
Medical researchers have said it is rare for COVID-19 to pass to the fetus, and just a few such cases have been recorded.
