Six people are said to have lost their lives after a hippopotamus attacked a canoe in Lake Logone in the Logone and Chari of the Far North Region.
The tragic incident which occurred on September 20, 2022 involved 5 men and a 12-year-old girl.
According to reports, local authorities had earlier prohibited persons from crossing the lake with small canoes, considering danger of the river during the rainy season.
Unfortunately, last Tuesday was a dark day for this group of persons who were knocked into the waters by a hippopotamus.
After several hours of search, the corpses of 04 drowned men were found. Their remains were packaged and left at the disposal of the village chief and their family members.
The search for the body of the little girl is still ongoing.
