The Initiator of the peaceful march calling for the release of former Minister Marafa Hamidou Yaya and other personalities has been arrested in the town of Garoua.
Mohamadou Bouba was arrested August 1, 2022, at the office of the Divisional Officer of Garoua II in the North Region.
Mohamadou Bouba who is president of the Confederation of Young Solidarity Associations of Cameroon was arrested for having dared to file a declaration of a demonstration at the Subdivisional office of Garoua II.
e had planned to carry out the demonstration on August 12, 2022.
It is reported that once at the office, the Divisional Officer had immediately invited the forces of law and order who arrived the venue and later arrested him.
His plea, however, was to March for the release of high-profile indigenes of the Northern regions including Marafa Hamidou Yaya, Ahmadou Vamoulké, and Iya Mohammed who have been in detention.
The request, it should be noted, follows the recent release of ex-minister Basile Atangana Kouna who was detained in 2018 over allegations of embezzlement.
However, at the moment, Mohamadou Bouba is being held in detention and may be transferred to Yaoundé.
