Few days ago, the UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres called for a global ceasefire to pave the way for the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

In the light of this call, the Southern Cameroons Defence Force (SOCADEF) earlier today said it was calling for a 14 days ceasefire.

In another outing Thursday March 26, 2020, the Ambazonian Interim Government has expressed its desire to put an end to the armed conflict that has been raging in the North West and South West regions for the past three years.

In a recent address, Acting Interim Government President Samuel Sako has expressed their desire to drop arms. “The interim government” he says “will support an internationally monitored ceasefire within the framework of a negotiated settlement”.

“In this light, we pray the international community to prevail on Mr Biya to heed to the call of the UN Chief by agreeing to this commonsense process, ” Sako said in the statement.

He added that he “announced the creation of the COVID-19 task force code named Ambazonia be the others keeper (ABETOK COVID-19 to be headed by Abongwa Hariscine”.

“In the days ahead, we are considering a total freeze of our international borders” he added.

The Cameroon government is yet to comment on the move, but officially notes that it has some 75 cases already.
