Barrister Yondo Black will be addressing the press Thursday in his Akwa residence, Douala.
The press conference to begin at 10 am will be attended by CRM party heads but it remains unclear if Prof Maurice Kamto will be present in the meeting.
It is coming after Kamto’s spokesman in a meeting with the press Thursday October 10th in Yaounde, maintained the CRM presidential candidate won the election.
Barrister Yondo Black had earlier backed Kamto’s candidacy and asked Paul Biya to acknowledge his victory.
The National President of the Social Movement for New Democracy (MSND) and former President of the Cameroon Bar Association, without mincing words, called on Paul Biya to turn the page by recognizing that he lost.
“My dear compatriots, Cameroon has found the way to freedom, legitimacy and equality. A man, a voice for years, against us, we have long used the power of experience. We know where this led us. Today, let us not use the experience of force.
On October 7th, the Cameroonian people called to choose one of their children who will have to be in charge of presiding over their destinies for the next seven years, set their sights on Professor Maurice KAMTO, styling at the finish line the one that seemed to have all the favours of the forecasts, against the outgoing President, Mr. Paul BIYA.
It’s happy news, good news. As I am proud of this country, the true Cameroon of our Ancestors.
The quarrel over the respect of the laws and regulations of the Republic as to the form and the moment of the promulgation of the results is only the expression of those who do not get along with the alternation in power, a requirement nevertheless of the democracy and pretend to ignore that the technological evolution of the world facilitates access to information for all; Also, it would be to violate this right to information than to deny the citizen the right to count the various results obtained from the public counting of the ballots to get an idea of the results…..
Elsewhere, it is exactly at the closing of the polls that we give an estimate of what will be the final result without it being a crime that would put the country in danger……… . Remember the attitude of President Abdou DIOUF who presented to his successor President Abdoulaye WADE his congratulations even before the Constitutional Council officially proclaimed the results. It is simply the expression of a republican fair play as one would like to see in any democratic country.
“I have received from the people a clear mandate that I intend to defend until the end” to Professor Maurice KAMTO is only an appeal made to his opponent to hasten the transfer of power in the best interests of the country…….
The election results having spoken, we can only congratulate ourselves and wish our new President good wind, courage and perspicacity in his choices so that the new Cameroon lives in concord and peace. The entourage of the outgoing President are so zealous….That tells how they immortalised the regime….” Barrister Yondo Black
