One of Ghana’s opposition political parties, the Convention People’s Party(CPP), has announced plans to rebury Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.
Kwame Nkrumah was Ghana’s first President and died in 1972 at the age of 62.
The plan was made public by the general secretary of the CPP party, Nana Yaa Jantua, at the occasion of the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the death of Kwame Nkrumah, at the Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum on April 27.
Nana Yaa while addressing the press revealed that the country’s first president was not given a befitting burial and that they are ready to give him one, coming November.
“It is on this premises that the Convention People’s Party and like-minded people in the African continent, will organise a befitting funeral for Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, the first president of the Republic of Ghana.” stated Nana Yaa jantua.
The party as well revealed that the timetable of activities that will culminate in the actual funeral, will soon be made available.
