A group of traditional rulers from Lekie division of the Centre of Cameroon have reportedly been summoned at the Secrétariat of State for Defence, SED in Yaounde.
This follows their rejection of the corpse of murdered Cameroonian journalist, Martinez Zogo. Lekie division is place of origin of the slain journalist.
On January 26, 2023, the traditional rulers from the Division had addressed a strong-worded letter to President Paul Biya in which they said they won’t receive Martinez Zogo’s mutilated body.
They had stated that it should be buried in Mvomeka, Biya’s village.
They had also declared Monday January 30 ghost town across Lekie in honour of the slain reporter.
meanwhile in a counter outing Friday, the president of the Lekie Chiefs’ Association had distanced himself from the move, and said his fellow chiefs acted on their own and were not mandated to do so in the first place.
