Maroc: au moins 820 personnes tuées dans un tremblement de terre

Selon le ministère de l’Intérieur marocain,
un fort séisme de magnitude 6,8 a frappé le centre du Maroc, tuant plusieurs centaines de personnes selon le bilan provisoire.

Au Maroc, un violent tremblement de terre est survenu dans la nuit de vendredi à samedi. Le séisme a fait au moins 820 morts, selon un bilan encore provisoire.

Selon le ministère de l’Intérieur marocain , il s’agit d’un séisme de magnitude 6,8, lequel a frappé le centre du pays.

Toujours selon le même ministère, citant l’US Geological Survey, l’épicentre se trouvait dans les montagnes du Haut Atlas, à 71 km au sud-ouest de Marrakech, à une profondeur de 18,5 km.

C’est exactement le vendredi à 23h11 heure locale (22h11 GMT) que le séisme s’est produit. Il y a eu une réplique de 4,9 19 minutes plus tard.

Des personnes sont dans plusieurs régions. Le plus grand nombre de victimes a été enregistré dans des régions reculées, notamment les provinces et municipalités d’Al-Haouz, Marrakech, Ouarzazate, Azilal, Chichaoua et Taroudant, ajoutant qu’au moins 329 personnes ont été blessées.

Le tremblement de terre qui a frappé le Maroc, dans la nuit de vendredi à samedi, rappelle plusieurs catastrophes similaires dans le pays. Un séisme avait fait au moins 12.000 morts à Agadir en 1960 et avait pratiquement rayé de la carte la ville. En 2004, 628 personnes avaient aussi péri après une forte secousse, à 400 kilomètres de Rabat.
