Speaking to reporters at the Molyko Omnisport stadium in Buea, Gabsibuim says “I had the confidence that i will win because I trained well and equally because my main challenger Mbacha Eric was absent”. He bags home the sum of 10 million francs cfa.

Kitan Mildred and Wirngo Fuhfainla came the second and third position respectively.

In the junior category, Saidou Habila Modi from Donga Mantung in the North West came the first position, Yaya Iliasou second from the South west while Saidou Momi from the North West came third.

Athletes from the North West lament that most of their training sessions were interrupted by the high level of insecurity forcing many of them to take refuge in other regions to train well.

The minister of sports and physical education, Narcise Moulle Kombi and the president of the national athletic Federation Emmauel Motomy Mbome have appreciated the race that was placed under the theme “let’s give peace a chance”.
