The Secretary General of Cameroon Renaissance Movement (CRM) political party has called on the national and the international community to bear witness of “…threats from unknown gunmen who want to kill me”.
In a publication Monday July 13, 2020, the lawyer says five men, two in civilian attire and three in military uniform invaded his Buea residence, South West region of Cameroon demanding his telephone number from his son at gun point.
“Immediately the men entered the house on the pretence of searching for a house for rent, they pointed a gun at my son demanding my telephone number.”
In fear, his son read out the telephone number of his lawyer father. The armed men further demanded when the Barrister will be in Buea. “…My son said he does not know. Angrily, they left promising to be back any day I arrive Buea”.
Chief Barrister Ndong Christopher Nveh says the men pretended to be potential tenants that were searching for a house for rent.
Speaking to Mimi Mefo Info on phone from Yaounde Cameroon Tuesday, July 14, the Secretary General of the Cameroon Renaissance Movement party says “CRM party has written to the department of national security, ministry of defense with copies forwarded to all diplomatic missions in Cameroon.”
To Chief Barrister Ndong, he has never received such threats. It should be recalled that Barrister Ndong is a front line opposition politician militating in the Cameroon Renaissance Movement party. The party headed by Prof Maurice Kamto has not accepted the victory of President Paul Biya in the 2018 presidential elections.
Besides, Chief Barrister Ndong Christopher is one of the leading lawyers defending leaders of the self proclaimed state of Ambazonia. With these, some political commentators say he might possibly be one of those that are not in the good books of the regime in Cameroon.
