It will take quite some time for Cameroonians to get over the events of Sunday, December 27, 2020, a day marred by bloodshed from different parts of the country in the form of road accidents, with the most fatal of them being the accident at Ndikiminiki in the Centre Region.

Though Sunday’s events have impacted many persons to channel their thoughts at a more supernatural cause, the government however gave an official statement of what accounted for the carnage and the situation so far.

After visiting the site of the accident, the Minister of Transport, Jean Ernest Masséna NGALLÈ BIBÉHÈ published an official list of victims of which were 35 deaths and 18 sustaining fatal injuries.

In the communiqué, the minister also stated that the corpses of the victims were deposited at the mortuary of the Yaoundé Central Hospital for identification, while the injured were transported to the District Hospitals of Ndikiminiki and Bafia for emergency treatment.

On the events leading to the accident, the communiqué has specified that it happened when the 70-Seater Bus of “Avenir Voyages” coming from Koutaba in the West Region collided with a heavy truck coming from the opposite direction.

The communiqué notes that an investigation into the events has been opened and that appropriate sanctions will be meted out to those responsible for such occurrences.
