Nigerian lecturer in BBC Africa eye ‘sex for grades’ report attempts suicide

Nigerian media reports say a lecturer at the University of Lagos, UNILAG is in hospital after attempting suicide after a BBC Africa Eye documentary showing him demanding sex to favor a student.

Dr. Boniface Igbeneghu is said to have been found unresponsive on Tuesday on the floor after the reportedly drinking rat poison ostensibly to commit suicide.

Hours after the release of the documentary ‘sex-for-grades’ film, Dr. Boniface was suspended indefinitely by UNILAG and was also stripped off his leadership position at Foursquare Gospel Church where he was head pastor.
Dr. Paul Kwame Butakor, lecturer at the College Of Education in Ghana who was also revealed in the documentary by BBC reporter Kiki Mordi denied the claims, according to the report.

The investigative documentary executed by the BBC’s Africa Eye, revealed that some lecturers in prestigious Universities in Ghana and Nigeria, demand sex from their female students in exchange for grades.
