According to the University of Douala Lecturer, the authorities are protecting the president of the CRM party from possible physical attacks.

The CPDM member made these utterances on the daily evening program on Equinox Tv, “Equinoxe Soir”. Patrick Rifoe during the program said Maurice Kamto has not been deprived of his freedom and he maintains that by the government authorities keeping constant watch on his house, they are rather protecting him.

“…I would say that the tensions generated by the CRM president when he called for an insurrection was dangerous and could produce attempts on his life so I presume the government is doing the necessary by protecting him,” he said on Equinoxe TV.

Commenting on reports that Kamto was prevented from leaving his house by the police force guarding his house, the University lecturer said “…I’m sorry. No one prevented Maurice Kamto from leaving his house… For the moment, he hasn’t tried leaving his home.”

Patrick Rifoe, in the course of the program also said the CRM president is a befitting personality, having emerged second at the October 2018 presidential elections.
Now in the current atmosphere, Rifoe, says it will be ideal for the government to protect him like they are doing.

Mimi Mefo Info understands that it has been over two weeks now since the president of the CRM party was put under house arrest by the Yaounde authorities.
Maurice Kamto and everyone in his house have been threatened with arrest should any of them try leaving the house.

The CRM president has also not been allowed to receive visitors in his house till the authorities deem free to release him. The only visitors the CRM president has received so far are his lawyers who were granted rare access to him some days ago.
