The Governor of the North West region has revealed that stringent security measures will be put in place in schools across the North West region to ensure an effective start of the 2021/2022 academic year.
The governor made the revelation Tuesday, August 31, 2021, during the sector conference of the secondary education sector in the North West region.
Governor Adolphe Lele Afrique appealed to the population of the region to join in the efforts of the government to guarantee the effective start of classes from September 6, 2021.
“All measures will be taken to ease class resumption but we are hoping that the population should mobilize to accompany the administration, stakeholders, and security services in that regard”, Governor Adolphe Lele Afrique said.
During the conclave, the stakeholders brainstormed on increasing enrollment from 43.000 registered last year.
The officials say all is almost set for the start of the academic year but there are concerns over the movement of persons.
Last academic year, 177 schools were operational out of 555 in the secondary education sector in the North West region.
