Andre Christian Olomo, the Divisional Officer (DO) of Okala Subdivision in the Centre Region of Cameroon, has revealed ongoing investigations into the mysterious deaths of four students in the area.
Okala recently witnessed a series of perplexing deaths, leaving the community in shock. Within a short span, four students from Lycée Technique d’Okala reportedly succumbed to unknown causes.
Sources indicate that the deceased students complained of body aches before their untimely demise.
Speaking to Equinoxe, a grieving mother shared the unsettling experience of her 18-year-old daughter’s mysterious death. The daughter, upon returning home, exhibited unusual symptoms when asked to prepare food.
“I called her and asked her why she was insisting on going and lying down when she knew I had to go to the meeting, and she is the one to take care of the meal. She asked me what she could apply to her nose, saying that her nose is painful,” explained Marcelline.
Continuing, she said, “When she laid down, she began telling me it’s no longer her nose only that is painful, that the pains have gone up to her eyes. She also started complaining that there was a warm moving inside her stomach, going up towards her throat.”
Tragically, the young girl passed away a few days later, mirroring similar scenarios preceding the demise of three other students from the same institution.
Responding to the distressing incidents, Andre Christian urged caution in attributing the deaths to mysticism, emphasising the need to await findings from medical officials.
In an interview, he stated, “We have called on the Director of the Hospital and other medical officials to conduct investigations and tell us exactly what happened. Because, till date, we cannot say for certain if it was natural.”
The DO of Okala expressed hope that the investigations by medical professionals would provide clarity on the situation.
