A house has been razed to ashes in Tole, a locality in Cameroon’s South West region this morning.
The incident carried out by unknown gunmen, locals say, left one injured. Reports say today’s incident is not the first. Other uncommon scenes have been witnessed lately.
“A man was kidnapped almost two weeks ago and was rescued by the military. The man shot today was the brother who was on phone trying to negotiate the amount for his release before the military entered. So today, they came for him,” a source explains.
The house that was set ablaze, he adds, “… was where the military made videos telling people what happened in the bush.”
Tole, like many other localities in Cameroon’s Anglophone regions is facing the consequences of a war between separatist fighters and government forces which has dragged on for close to four years today, leaving thousands dead and many more in need of humanitarian aid.
