An association of citizens, political parties and civil society organisations in Cameroon called Organisation of Citizenship Front has declared total solidarity with lawyers in Cameroon as they prepare for a five day sit in strike to run from the 16th to the 20th of September throughout the national territory. The strive is intended to denounce over five decades of the violation of the rights of lawyers, accused persons, inmates and Cameroonians as a whole.

In a press conference granted in Douala Wednesday September 4th 2019, Edith Kah Walla, National Coordinator of Cameroon People’s Party and one of the leaders of the organisation says lawyers with the support of all Cameroonians can change the bad trend of events in Cameroon where the fundamental rights of people is being trampled upon each day by the administration and forces of law and order.

While applauding Cameroon National Bar Association for taking a bold step to liberate the people of Cameroon from injustice, the Organisation of Citizenship Front says they are particularly concerned on the welfare of four categories of prisoners unlawfully incarcerated by the regime of president Paul Biya. They site many people arrested and detained in connection to the fight against Boko Haram insurgency in the far North region of Cameroon, prisoners and detainees in connection to the anglophone crisis, people mostly militants of Cameroon Renaissance Movement CRM Party arrested during post electoral tension in Cameroon and thousands of others illegally arrested and detained Cameroonians that have been denied their fundamental right to fare judgement.

Beside proclaiming support for the lawyers , the organisation has equally requested massive support and mobilisation of Cameroonians at the premises of Yaounde military court this friday September 6th and show solidarity to leaders of Cameroon Renaissance Movement Party and other ally leaders. They call on Cameroonians to dress in black.

While condemning the judgment of civilians by military men in a military tribunal, Barrister Alice Nkom called for a public audience at the military court this friday. While expressing persimism about the judgment to be handed down to Prof. Maurice Kamto and others by the military court, she thinks it is time Cameroonians take their destiny into their hands by showing support to the lawyers to instill sanity in the judicial sector in Cameroon.
