The North West region of Cameroon, as at June 23rd, 2020 counted 409 coronavirus cases out of the over twelve thousands COVID-19 cases in Cameroon.
Out of this number in the North West, 86 have recovered and 45 have died, official sources have revealed.
The Statistics were made public in a document signed by Dr. Kingsley Che Soh, North West regional delegate of public health.
Of the 19 health districts in the North West, COVID-19 cases have been discovered in 10.
This include: 5 cases in Bali health district(HD), 52 in Fundong HD, 4 in Mbengwi HD, 1 in Ndop HD, 6 in Santa HD, 4 in Tubah HD, 2 in Wum HD, 2 in Kumbo HD and four imported to the region.
According to the document, sixteen have been hospitalised, four serious cases are on oxygen, seven in quarantine centre and 158 others are at home.


Health officials in the region have stated that the increase number of cases in the past eight days is as a result of massive testd with the Rapid Diagnostic Test kits used in health facilities and temporal sites put in place in communities. Despite this, just 12 out of 19 health districts are conducting the tests.
As concerns the treatment of Coronavirus in the region, 9 out of 23 health facilities have been equipped for the purpose with fourteen others to start as soon as a case is identified in their health district.
After a halt of clinical screening at the entrance to the North West from the West region, community health workers and Red cross volunteers will resume testing at Matazem Santa on Thursday, June 25.
Health officials say respect of all COVID-19 barrier measures like; regular washing of hands, wearing of face masks while in public places and respect of physical distancing should be taken seriously.
