It is not uncommon for Cameroon’s President to receive diplomats at the Unity Palace, but the consistency with which he did so lately, has raised a lot of dust.
In less than two weeks, the 87-year-old leader has granted an audience to three Ambassadors, the latest being that of the US, Peter Barlerin.
Following their meeting on Wednesday, President said only health related issues we’re discussed.
“Audience with U.S. Ambassador Peter Henry Barlerin to assess the fight against the Coronavirus disease (#COVID-19) and HIV/AIDS, ” said President Biya after yesterday’s meeting.
When Biya received the French and Russian Amabassadors, operation ties and the Anglophone Crisis were discussed.
The multiple meetings with diplomats come after local media reported a strained relationship between Yaounde and some Western powers.
With the current socio-economic and health issues plaguing the country, what else could these meetings have in their agenda?
