The Ministry of Public Service and Administrative Reform has dismissed over 900 government workers for constant absenteeism.

The information is disclosed in a release by the MINFOPRA boss, Le Joseph, signed on October 13, 2022.

Among those dismissed were 56 civil servants and 859 state agents, making a total of 915 workers.

In the release, Le Joseph indicated that the sanction, which is, “… in line with the High Directives of the President of the Republic, His Excellency PAUL BIYA,” is taken in accordance with “the provisions of Decree No. 94/199 of October 7, 1994, amended and supplemented by Decree No. ° 2000/287 of October 12, 2000 and Decree No. 78/484 of November 09, 1978 relating respectively to the General Statute of the Public Service and the Labor Code.”

Joseph Le equally noted that the sanction has as aim to combat “chronic absenteeism of public officials.”

A total of 1,408 government workers have so far been removed from the workforce for similar reasons.
