By David Atangana

The Mejang community, a village in Belo Subdivision, Boyo Division of Cameroon’s North West Region has been plunged into mourning, following the brutal killing of the Queen mother of the village.

Mrs Ngochia was “brutally killed” on Tuesday, July 4th, 2023, leaving the villagers in shock and in grief.

Speaking to MMI, a source in the village said “The sacrilege was committed by trigger-happy soldiers.”

Defense and security forces stormed the village Wednesday, July 5, 2023, burning the queen mother and the palace to ashes, our source added.

“The Fon of Mejang and the entire village lost their Queen burned inside the palace by the Cameroon military,” the source went on.

The community is devastated by the recent development.

“The queen mother of Mejang was assassinated in a military raid in the palace yesterday. We have been mourning. She died because she loved her husband HRH Fon Ngochia, she died because she loved Mejang, she did not die because the children could not move her to a comfort zone. She died in her room in the palace because she has always stood for Mejang. Let her death bring peace to Mejang and in the palace. Mum, you will forever leave in our hearts. You died like the lioness queen that you were, your children and lovers of Mejang will mourn you forever. Your death will make a turning point in the social-cultural, political, and developmental history of Mejang,” a villager paid a heart-wrenching tribute to the queen.

The village has come attacks recently, but the motive of Tuesday’a attack remains unknown.

There has been no official reaction.
