Social Democratic Front, SDF National communication Secretary, Denis Nkemlemo has said government must provide answers to what actually happened Tuesday in Bamenda which led to the death of one of theirs, senator Henry Kemende.

The communication secretary made the position of the party known to Mimi Mefo Info over 13 hours after the assassination of SDF Senator, Henry Kemende in Bamenda.

Senator Kemende was intercepted and shot dead by gunmen on Tuesday night in Bamenda.

What we know

Speaking to the National Secretary for Communication of the SDF Party, Denis Nkemlemo, he detailed to us the events that led to the senator’s death as revealed by the deceased’s relatives.

According to Denis Nkemlemo, the Senator who had spent the whole day in his Bamendakwe residence was Intercepted when he drove off to drop some technicians who were working in his house.

“One of the technicians had told the senator he had to leave for home early because of the security situation. The senator however objected and reiterated that he preferred dropping him off later when he was done than to leave with the work half done,” Denis Nkemlemo recounted.

At about 8 pm, the senator according to testimonies drove off with the technician to go drop him at Mile 2.

“On the way, he was intercepted at a filling station by two men on a bike who asked him to hand over his car keys,” Nkemlemo narrated.

“After resisting handing over his key, he was threatened with some gunshots fired in the air before giving in to their demands. He was driven off by the gunmen with his car,” he explained.

Moments after the Senator was driven off, Denis Nkemlemo says he was brought back to Mile 2 where had been abducted and abandoned by the side of the road with some bullet wounds visible on his body.

“He was bleeding profusely and wailing for help on the road,” Nkemlemo said.

“He was rushed to PMI by a bike rider who found him on the side of the road… His condition had got critical when he got to the hospital and so the doctors could not revive him,” he ended.

Who are Kemende’s killers?

Already over 16 hours since the death of the senator, there has yet to be any credible insight on whom his assailants are.

Some pro-Government Cameroonians have been quick to blame Separatist fighters for the assassination of the senator.

Nevertheless, some have suggested that suggestions should not be drawn yet, as too many, there are still many questions left hanging.

SDF Wants Answers

The Social Democratic Front has demanded explanations from the state as to what has happened to Senator Henry Kemende.

The SDF nevertheless has also not had any official reaction yet.

Denis Nkemlemo says “the death of Senator Henry Kemende is a serious affair and we will have to work diligently before putting out a statement… We need to know the real cause of his death after autopsy reports. We will meet and we will get back to the press.”

The SDF’s National Communication Secretary has also bemoaned the Government’s silence with regards to the assassination.

He insinuated that “The state must protect citizens, especially if it is a senator…”
