A father and his son in Mutengene in the South West region have been shot dead in a raid by members of the Cameroon armed forces. The incident that happened in a farm settlement known as France eye witnesses say took place on Wednesday September 11, 2019 in the morning. This came few hours after President Paul Biya in an address to the nation called for national dialogue to end conflict in the troubled North West and South West regions.

Members of the dreaded Rapid Intervention Battalion, BIR are said to have invaded the locality and opened fire indiscriminately, killing many including a man in his 40s called Mola and his 23 year old son.

Other casualties were recorded in the raid with the corpses taken to mortuary. The incident inhabitants of the area say has left them with more fear in their hearts than before.

One of the victims was tied onto to a rope

Other sources says they were attacked in their farms. “The military have just shot dead some members of the Sam family in a place called France in Mutengene SWR, these people were in their farm milling oil it happened at about 7:00am” he said insisting not to be named.

Coming after the announcement of a National Dialogue, there are fears that the act will create more suspicion, and can likely thwart peace plans.

The government has not reacted to the killings.
