The Southwest Regional Delegate for Public Health, Dr. Eko Eko Filbert, has warned against the use of ‘NaturCold’, a medication used for babies.
Based on a release signed by the Regional Delegate on March 9, the syrup “…consists a risk to the health of the population, and is suspected to have caused the death of 03 children in Tombel Health District.”
“Moreover, according to the Department of Pharmacy, Medicine and Laboratories (DPML), the syrup lacks a marketing authorisation in Cameroon, implying commercialisation of the concerned product is considered illegal,” the release further disclosed.
Dr. Eko Eko ended by calling on the population to remain vigilant and to “…notify the existence of this product to the nearest health facilities and health districts.”
