The Order of Pharmacists in Cameroon has said it intends to clear the profession’s image at the upcoming Pharma Expo, scheduled for September 21–23, 2023.
They made this public during a press conference they organised in Yaounde, in the central region of Cameroon, on August 23, 2023.
Prof. Mpondo Mpondo Emmanuel Albert, the president of the Scientific Committee of the event, states, “We hold a lot of misconceptions about pharmacists. They are not merely vendors of medicines, but rather they undergo training to comprehend everything related to the medicines we consume. Therefore, they deserve respect and appreciation for the valuable work they perform.”
Dr. Kouakap Solange, the Inspector General of Pharmaceutical and Laboratory Services at the Ministry of Public Health, said “that the pharma expo will focus on changing the wrong image that the public has of the pharmacy profession. The expo will feature capacity buildings and exhibitions by pharmacists.”
Prof Ngono Mballa Rose stated that participants from several other African countries will come to the expo.
Dr. Nana Frank, President of the Order of Pharmacists, on his part said, “We will also have the opportunity to empower those who produce drugs locally to avoid importing fake drugs.”
