Members of the armed forces dressed in military attire are said to have captured three separatist fighters and neutralised two in Sop, Jakiri in the North West region of Cameroon, a source told MMI.
The forces the source adds the military used a non military vehicle to get to the area.
“A first checkpoint manned by supposed Ambazonia fighters was taken by surprise, killing two and taking three hostage,” the source who opted for anonymity said.
Another source says the same unit “attacked another individual as they proceeded to Wainkar, a neighborhood in Nkar, a village still under Jakiri sub division”.
Since the supposed attack, Ambazonia fighters are yet to make any statement on the incident. It however comes days after the fighters claim to have attacked the convoy of North West governor, Adolphe Lele L’Afrique.
The Ministry of Defence, MINDEF has since denied the claim, stating that the governor is safe and sound.
Several separatist fighters, military men and civilians have been killed as a result of the two year long conflict that has left thousands of kids our of school and hundreds of thousands displaced.
