Cameroon’s Minister of Transport has visited victims of last Wednesday night’s road accident along the Douala -Yaoundé highway.

Jean Ernest Massena Ngalle Bibehe accompanied by the Senior Divisional Officer for the Sanaga Maritime Division visited the patients in hospitals in Pouma. The delegation only extended a message of comfort to injured persons.

Several reasons were presented to the minister as being responsible for the accident that caused the death of eight passengers. To some victims, the seventy-seater Garanti Bus was on high speed while others blame the truck driver from the opposite direction for being responsible.

According to a list from the Catholic Hospital in Pouma, eight people have been confirmed dead with others in critical health condition.

The Transport Minister’s team equally visited the site of the accident. Jean Ernest Massena Ngalle Bibehe has not issued a statement concerning the accident as we went to press.

In the past, the Minister of Transport has suspended travel agencies found guilty of violating road safety code. Many are all agreed that the Douala-Yaoundé highway remains a death-trap for commuters.

While the minister and his team are sure of their fat mission allowances, they left the accident victims struggling to cater for their bills while the bereaved mourn their deaths in lack.
