Military men in Nkambe in Cameroon’s North West Region say they have freed two students from armed men suspected to be Amba fighters.
“On this morning of 14 October 2019 at around 08:30 two unidentified individuals kidnapped two students while going to class at GBHS NKAMBE,” a post on their Facebook page read.
Alerted, the Nkambe patrol quickly got to the scene and with the help of Bororo guides searched the area.
The kidnappers, it went on, were caught more than 4km with the two students and neutralised the abductors on the spot after they refused to give up.
“It should be noted that the people of Nkambe have chosen to send their children to school”.
Nkambe has been one of the most peaceful towns in Anglophone Cameroon since the armed conflict began, a situation many say is thanks to the army camp there.
