Security sources have revealed that eight persons were wounded in the Women’s Day attack in Bamenda, North West region of Cameroon.

The victims, the sources reveal, were 5 soldiers, 2 policemen and 1 civilian. One has been reported dead in the hours after the incident.

An internal memo discloses that the incident happened close to the grandstand. The bomb, it explains, was “remotely controlled by individuals on a motorbike”.

Regarding the injuries, the memo states that some victims had ” legs almost completely cut” and others injured in the arm and the legs.

A military helicopter has since been dispatched to transport the victims out of Bamenda.

The incident that happened during this year’s women’s day celebration comes after the election of city council mayors across towns in the country, one of the resolutions of the major national dialogue.
