Lawyers of jailed separatist leaders have received an invitation to appear in a Yaounde court on Thursday with their clients.

The information was made public by the Chairman for communication and media of the defense team, Amungwa Tanyi Nico Esq.

In a notice on Wednesday, Barrister Amungwa States that the jailed Ambazonian leaders, also known as the Nera 10 have been served a production warrant to appear before the Appeal court of the center region tomorrow July 16, 2020.

“All the lawyers who are currently in Yaounde are hereby put on notice” Barrister Amungwa States. The court appearance is coming barely few weeks after reports of ongoing talks between the leaders and the Yaounde regime.

“Nine of our leaders in detention were invited to meet with a team from the government of La Republique du Cameroun on initiating a ceasefire following the United Nation’s request to bring an end to the war in Ambazonia,” the lawyer of Sisiku and co had told reporters after the alleged talks early July.

The Nera 10 members, arrested in Abuja Nera Hotel and brought to Cameroon in January 2018 are currently serving life jail terms with fines at the Yaounde Kondengui prison.

They have been fighting for the autonomy of the English-speaking regions of Cameroon since 2016.
