The Cameroon Baptist Convention (CBC) has called on its Christians to mobilise and massively attend the court hearing in Yaounde.
It will take place at the Mfoundi Court of First Instance’s chambers on November 7.
Three former members are dragging CBC to court, as we reported last week.
According to the Executive President of the CBC, Reverend Nditemeh Charlemagne, the ex-members want the court to suspend the upcoming election.
The CBC faces lawsuits in Mezam Bamenda and also in Mfoundi in Yaounde.
“The first four were filed in Mezam High Court in Bamenda. During the hearings in Bamenda, many CBC Christian residents in Bamenda and elsewhere are always in attendance in their respective organ uniforms. It would be commendable for CBC Christians in Yaounde and its environs to be in attendance at the hearing of 7 November.” CBC’s Executive President, Reverend Nditemeh Charlemagne, said in a letter to Christians.
“Given that the session of 7 November will be in chambers (the president’s office), our Christians can await in the courtyard.” Reverend Nditemeh Charlemangne added.
The CBC Executive, in its first letter, indicated the former Christians are running away from the courts in common law jurisdiction to a civil law court in Yaounde.
CBC elections will take place this month, and if the court rules in favour of the church, they will proceed as planned.
Reverend Nditemeh Charlemagne, the Chairman of the CBC Executive and President, will stand trial for the Church.
