US Insists on Swiss Mediation For Cameroon

The United States of America has reiterated its support for the Swiss led mediation initiative between the government of Cameroon, and leaders of the independence struggle in the English speaking regions of the country to end the over three year long armed conflict.

During an audience granted Prof Maurice Kamto, National President of the Cameroon Renaissance Movement political party on Thursday January 9th, 2020 in Washington DC, US secretary of state in charge of African Affairs, Tibor Nagy said the US fully support the Swiss initiative on Cameroon.

“Met with Maurice Kamto today. I reaffirmed U.S commitment to democracy, peaceful elections, and U.S. support for the Swiss initiatives in..” Tibor Nagy said on Twitter.

Tibor Nagy and Maurice Kamto also discussed democracy and peaceful elections in Cameroon, one month to the CRM-boycotted February 9th, 2020 twin elections.

Maurice Kamto met with the US top diplomat at the same time president Biya was receiving new year wishes from guests, members of the diplomatic corp and of government.
